PE and Sport Premium
The Primary PE and Sport Premium (PPSP) for primary schools aims to improve the quality of primary PE. Funding has been committed by the Government until the end of the 2023 academic year. A significant focus of the premium is how it can be used to provide sustained development of sport, physical activity and PE within schools.
The premium should be used to:
- Develop or add to the PE, physical activity and sport activities that schools provide
- Build capacity and capability within schools to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years
There are 5 key indicators that schools should expect to see improvement across:
Key Indicator 1: Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
Key Indicator 2: Engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity
Key Indicator 3: Profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement
Key Indicator 4: Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
Key Indicator 5: Increased participation in competitive sport
Funding should not be used to:
- Employ coaches or specialist teachers to cover planning preparation and assessment (PPA) arrangements
- Teach the minimum requirements of the national curriculum
- Fund capital expenditure
Through funding from Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire, we are able to provide further support and guidance for school through workshops and 1:1 meetings.
